“It’s Easier to Stop Governors Abusing State Police Than to Police Nigeria from Abuja” – Former Israeli PM Ehud Barak
Former Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Barak, has weighed in on Nigeria’s state police debate, arguing that the risk of governors abusing state police is a manageable challenge compared to the impossibility of policing a country as vast as Nigeria from a central command in Abuja.
“The concern that a governor might use state police for political ambition is real. But it’s much easier to address that through detailed legislation than to try to police a country as vast as Nigeria from one central place,” Barak said.
