Lawyer Groups Defy Court on ‘Blue Silk’ Rank
Lawyer groups, the Nigerian Law Society (NLS) and Body of Senior Counsel of Nigeria (BOSCON), stand firm on their right to confer the ‘Blue Silk’ rank. They assert its independence from the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), despite a recent court judgment. NLS President Chukwuka Ikwuazom and BOSCON Chairman Muiz Banire signed a joint statement reaffirming this stance, claiming the initiative targets non-contentious legal practice and doesn’t compete with the SAN title.
