Insecurity a ‘gang-up’ against Tinubu’s government – Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has alleged that escalating terror attacks in Nigeria are politically motivated efforts to undermine President Tinubu’s administration.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has claimed that the recent surge in terrorist attacks across Nigeria is part of a coordinated effort to distract President Bola Tinubu. Speaking in Abuja, he said, “Believe me, Mr President… the bomb blasts will stop. People are sponsoring it to distract you from your work,” adding that the administration is facing a “gang up.”

His remarks come amid heightened security concerns, including a deadly airstrike and renewed insurgent activities. The comments also followed Tinubu’s closed-door meeting with top military officials and a French delegation, aimed at strengthening security collaboration. Nigeria continues to face threats from insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping across several regions.

Akpabio also defended the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission over alleged bias, stating, “He did not say victory is sure for the APC… He just said victory is sure.” He insisted the statement was misinterpreted and stressed that public officials must remain neutral while serving the nation.
