ICPC Arraigns El-Rufai’s Doctor Over Forged Report

The ICPC has filed a four-count charge against Bello Abubakar, an oncology consultant at the National Hospital, Abuja, accusing him of forging a medical report used to support Nasir El-Rufai’s bail bid. The charges allege Abubakar issued a false report and presented it to a Commissioner for Oaths before it was filed in court, according to Leadership.

The National Hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr Raji Mahmud, is expected to testify that no examination was conducted and that the hospital never authorised the report. A records search reportedly found no matching patient file for El-Rufai at the time.

Abubakar, however, maintains El-Rufai has been his patient since 2005. El-Rufai faces separate corruption charges and has pleaded not guilty to all.
