Federal High Court Chief Judge John Tsoho has issued amended Pre-Election Practice Directions to guide the handling of political cases ahead of the 2027 general elections.
CJ Tsoho Issues New Pre-Election Practice Directions
The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, has issued the Federal High Court (Pre-Election) Practice Directions (Amendment), 2026, amending the original directions that took effect on June 26, Daily Post reports.
According to a statement by the court’s Director of Information, Dr Catherine Oby Christopher, the amendment is rooted in the 1999 Constitution and the Electoral Act, 2026, aimed at ensuring speedy and fair resolution of pre-election disputes.
The court urged lawyers to familiarise themselves with the new directions ahead of anticipated political cases from the 2027 general elections.
