109 Pilgrims Bypassed Medical Screening — NAHCON

NAHCON Chairman Ambassador Ismail Yusuf has revealed that over 109 pilgrims bypassed medical screening during the 2026 Hajj, a lapse that attracted sanctions from Saudi Arabia, People Gazette reports.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ summit in Abuja, Yusuf cited additional issues including catering lapses, accommodation pressure points, and weak monitoring systems, while noting the commission has begun reconciliation with Saudi service providers and will demand compensation for poor service. He also announced plans to digitise the entire Hajj value chain via the Nusuk and Masar platforms.

Despite the setbacks, Yusuf said pilgrims performed their rites safely and returned home without incident.
