NCAA Suspends Pilots, Grounds Jet Over Asaba Road-Landing
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has suspended the pilots and grounded the aircraft involved in last month’s incident where a chartered jet landed on a road under construction near Asaba Airport, Delta State, Punch Newspaper reports.
NCAA Director-General Capt. Chris Najomo disclosed this at the Airport Business Summit in Lagos, confirming the aircraft’s Permit to Fly has also been suspended pending investigation. He said the NCAA has taken over the regulatory probe from the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau, with the DSS now also involved.
Najomo, describing the incident as highly unusual, said further findings on possible motives are still being investigated.
