Kwankwaso fires back at Kano gov’s spokesman: I am not Tinubu’s man

Former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has flatly denied allegations that he is covertly supporting President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, saying only “foolish people” would believe such claims.

Former presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has dismissed as false allegations by Kano Governor Abba Yusuf’s spokesman, Sanusi Bature, that he is indirectly working to secure President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

“I think only foolish people would believe that. We are not working for anybody. We are only working for NDC,” Kwankwaso said during an interview with Global TV on Wednesday night.

While acknowledging his friendship with Tinubu, Kwankwaso was clear about their political separation. “Bola Tinubu has been my senior brother and good friend up till now. But that doesn’t mean we shall pull all our political ideologies together with him. He is doing his own, and I am doing my own,” he said.

Kwankwaso also confirmed that his coalition had endorsed Peter Obi as its preferred southern presidential candidate for 2027.
