Ogun brick moulder stabbed to death over N200 dispute

A dispute over N200 escalated into a tragedy in Ota, Ogun State, where a brick moulder named Israel Ayomide was stabbed to death by a suspected hoodlum who remains at large.

A 22-year-old brick moulder, Israel Ayomide, was fatally stabbed on April 1, 2026, following a violent altercation over a N200 debt at a block industry in the Ota area of Ogun State. The incident occurred at Ori-Ade Block along Alaka Road in the Ewupe community, where a suspected hoodlum locally identified as “Aboy” reportedly attacked Ayomide. According to witnesses, the disagreement escalated rapidly, leading the suspect to allegedly pin the victim down and inflict a lethal wound before fleeing the scene.

The local community has expressed deep concern over the handling of the case by the Onipanu Police Division. Residents who spoke to the press claimed that the suspect has a history of violent behavior and often uses bottles as weapons during disputes. Some community members alleged that the police initially detained individuals who came forward to report the crime, rather than focusing efforts on apprehending the primary suspect, who is believed to be leveraging familial connections to evade justice.

Eyewitnesses described the suddenness of the attack, noting that the victim had no chance to defend himself or receive medical attention in time. Reflecting on the swift escalation, a source identified as Moyo stated: “The altercation lasted just a few minutes before Aboy pinned Ayomide down and stabbed him. He died before members of the community could rush him to the hospital.” Another resident, Daniel, highlighted the suspect’s notorious reputation, adding: “He (the suspect) is known for attacking people with bottles, especially during disputes. I think he acts that way because his mother was once a police officer.”
