CNN anchor Jake Tapper has alleged that the concealment of President Biden’s cognitive decline may surpass the Watergate scandal in severity
CNN anchor Jake Tapper has alleged that the concealment of President Biden’s cognitive decline may surpass the Watergate scandal in severity. In his new book, Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, co-authored with Alex Thompson, Tapper details efforts by Biden’s aides to hide his deteriorating mental and physical health during his presidency. The book cites incidents such as Biden forgetting notable figures and discussions among staff about using a wheelchair for him.
Tapper, reflecting on his own reporting, admitted to Megyn Kelly that he failed to adequately address Biden’s health concerns, expressing “tremendous humility” over past coverage. The revelations have sparked criticism from both political sides, with some accusing Tapper of being complicit in the alleged cover-up. Despite the controversy, Tapper maintains that the book aims to shed light on the truth behind Biden’s presidency and the decisions leading up to the 2024 election.
