Ibadan has lost a respected voice. Per The Guardian, Alabi, who held the traditional title of Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, passed away Saturday morning, with his death announced by the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adeola Oloko.
His son, Tunji Alabi, confirmed the news, simply stating: “Baba died this morning.” Family sources say the veteran journalist will be buried Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.
Alabi built a distinguished career in journalism, public communication and public service, serving as press secretary to multiple Oyo State governors while also holding a prominent role in the Olubadan chieftaincy line. Further burial and funeral details are expected from the family.
