Oyo State has received two surveillance aircraft at Ibadan’s Akintola Airport to boost intelligence gathering, aerial monitoring and rapid response to security threats across the state.
Oyo State has taken delivery of two surveillance aircraft to strengthen security and monitoring operations across the state.
The aircraft landed at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan, on Tuesday, fulfilling Governor Seyi Makinde’s earlier pledge to upgrade the state’s security architecture. According to The PUNCH, Commissioner for Information and Orientation Dotun Oyelade said the planes were reassembled at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos before being flown to Ibadan.
Oyelade noted the aircraft would support intelligence gathering, aerial monitoring and rapid response to security threats. They are also expected to complement security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps, in tackling crime and improving emergency response. The state government first announced the aircraft’s purchase in July 2025 as part of broader efforts to strengthen security across Oyo State.
