Kwara State’s healthcare system is undergoing a significant transformation under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Years of underinvestment left many facilities in disrepair, but recent efforts have focused on rebuilding primary care, upgrading hospitals, and improving health worker welfare. This has led to renovated health centers, modernized general hospitals, and the establishment of advanced facilities like the Intensive Care Unit at KWASUTH.
The reforms also include significant investment in modern diagnostic equipment and a new Oncology Centre. To address staff shortages, the state has improved salaries, hired more workers, and invested in training. The KwaraCare Health Insurance Scheme now covers over 100,000 residents, making healthcare more accessible and affordable.
