Ebonyi Community Warns Against Politicising Habila’s Death
Uburu is closing ranks around its “illustrious son.” The Ebonyi community has appealed to Nigerians not to politicise the death of nurse Mary Habila, who worked for Works Minister David Umahi, according to Tribune Online.
In a statement signed by Uburu Ancient Kingdom president Nicholas Odi, the community backed Umahi’s call for a transparent, independent autopsy, saying only objective medical examination could “dispel speculation.”
While acknowledging the family’s initial reluctance toward an autopsy, the statement said public interest demanded the facts be established. The community cautioned against exploiting the death for “political, sectional or personal interests” and urged security agencies to complete their investigation without interference, expressing confidence the truth would emerge.
