A High Court in Awka has sentenced native doctor Onyeze Jesus to six years in prison and fined him ₦20 million for fraudulent spiritual practices.

According to Sahara reporters, a High Court in Awka, Anambra State, has sentenced native doctor Onyebuchi Okocha, popularly known as Onyeze Jesus, to six years’ imprisonment and a ₦20 million fine over fraudulent spiritual practices. State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, confirmed the judgment, calling it a milestone in the state’s crackdown on deceptive spiritual claims.
The prosecution was based on the Anambra State Homeland Security Law, which bars practices like “Oke-Ite” and “Ezenwanyi” that promise wealth through mystical means. His co-defendant, Chidozie Nwangwu, took a plea deal for a two-year term, while Onyeze Jesus faced trial and received the maximum sentence. He has been remanded at Awka Correctional Centre.
