Adetshina Back in Court Over Deportation Battle

Chidimma Adetshina’s immigration saga is far from over. The former Miss Universe Nigeria appeared before the Cape Town Regional Court on Thursday as deportation proceedings resumed, according to Punch. She filed an affidavit outlining efforts to regularise her stay, but the case was adjourned to Monday for the state’s response.

Immigration officer Adrian Jackson alleged she and her son lacked valid residency, urging her detention pending deportation. The 25-year-old, born in Soweto to a Nigerian father and Mozambican mother, was declared a “prohibited person” in December 2024 after allegations of fraudulent documents. Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber earlier rejected her bid to review the department’s refusal to grant her a letter of good cause.
