A Federal High Court has ordered the final forfeiture of over 40 properties linked to former Attorney General Abubakar Malami, ruling he failed to prove the assets were lawfully acquired.
Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of 40+ Properties Linked To Malami
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of more than 40 properties linked to former Attorney General Abubakar Malami, ruling that he failed to rebut suspicions the assets were proceeds of unlawful activity, according to Channels TV.
The judge dismissed objections filed by Malami, his family, and linked companies, stating the real issue was the legitimacy of funds used, not ownership. The EFCC had sought forfeiture of 57 properties worth ₦212.8 billion since January, though some interim orders were vacated.
Malami and his family had argued the properties were lawfully acquired and that the EFCC relied on speculation rather than evidence.
