The Yoruba Union has urged President Tinubu to secure the release of 176 abducted Kwara children and women and 40 Borno schoolchildren still held by terrorists, even as it praised the rescue of the Oriire schoolchildren.
Yoruba Group Demands Rescue of Kwara, Borno Captives
The celebration over freed Oriire schoolchildren isn’t the finish line, says the Yoruba Union. According to Sahara Reporters, the group, Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, praised security agencies for bringing the Oriire victims home alive but demanded equal urgency for 176 women and children abducted since February from Kwara State’s Woro community, plus 40 Mussa schoolchildren held for 57 days in Borno.
The union rejected claims that Kwara’s plight has been overlooked because “the people of Kwara are docile,” insisting captivity deserves attention regardless of ethnicity or location.
The group called for intensified security operations, warning that Nigerians will only trust Tinubu’s security efforts once all victims are rescued — not just some.
