Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, wife of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has denied reports that she filed for divorce, calling the claims false and unverified.

Uchechi Okwu-Kanu is setting the record straight. In a statement on X on Friday, she dismissed circulating reports that she filed for divorce from her husband, IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, calling the claims “entirely false” and a form of misinformation, Punch reports.
She urged the public to verify information through her or her authorised representatives before sharing. Kanu, whom she married in 2009, is serving a life sentence at the Sokoto Custodial Centre after his November 2025 conviction on terrorism-related charges. He was found guilty on all seven counts and has since filed a notice of appeal seeking to overturn the verdict.
