Senate Okays N11.07trn Customs Budget
Nigeria’s Customs Service just got a budget boost — and some serious praise. The Senate on Wednesday approved its 2026 fiscal plan, backing a N11.074 trillion revenue target and N1.295 trillion expenditure estimate, according to P.M. News.
Committee chairman Isah Jibrin revealed Customs beat its 2025 target, generating N7.2 trillion against a N6.5 trillion goal — a 110.53% performance, despite disruptions from suspended telecoms excise duty and the Russia-Ukraine war’s impact on imports.
Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau praised the agency’s fiscal discipline, noting it spent just N591 billion of its N1.132 trillion 2025 budget. Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended the committee before lawmakers approved the proposals via voice vote.
