FG CONDEMNS KILLING OF NIGERIANS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised the alarm on Sunday over the safety of its citizens abroad, following a spate of deadly attacks in South Africa. Spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa issued a statement demanding accountability for the killings.

According to Vanguard, Emeka Charles Iroegbu was allegedly shot dead by Tshwane Metro Police officers in Pretoria, while Musa Yunana Joe, popularly called Big Joe, was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Mpumalanga.

The ministry also slammed a South African government spokesperson’s remarks linking Nigerians to drug crimes, calling them dangerous and inflammatory.

Abuja urged Pretoria to tackle hate speech, revisit unresolved cases, and follow due process. It sympathized with the bereaved families and advised Nigerians in South Africa to stay alert, while reaffirming commitment to diplomatic engagement.
