A growing number of Nigerian entrepreneurs are setting up UK companies alongside their domestic operations to boost credibility and support international expansion.
NIGERIAN FOUNDERS EYE UK COMPANY SETUP FOR GLOBAL GROWTH
More Nigerian entrepreneurs are looking beyond the domestic market, with UK company registration emerging as a key strategy for international growth, The Nation reports.
According to Companies House, 801,871 new companies were incorporated in the UK in the year ending March 2025, pushing the total register to about 5.43 million, while overseas companies with a UK establishment rose to 14,574.
Robert Engeham, CEO of Your Company Formations Ltd, said entrepreneurs increasingly view UK incorporation as part of a broader growth strategy rather than a simple registration process, aimed at building credibility, governance and long-term commercial expansion.
He noted that technology has made international business more accessible, but sustainable success still depends on strong foundations and transparent governance. Founders typically maintain their Nigerian operations alongside the UK entity.
