What I’ll do as President of Nigeria — Amaechi

Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has declared that restoring the rule of law would be his first priority if elected President of Nigeria, while taking a swipe at the APC for using government institutions against opposition parties.

Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said restoring respect for the rule of law would be his immediate priority if elected President of Nigeria.

Amaechi made the remarks during a Friday interview, stressing the urgent need for stronger institutions and greater respect for democratic principles across the country.

Taking aim at the ruling party, he questioned its tactics against opposition groups. “If the APC said they are strong, why are they influencing the government institutions against the opposition? Why won’t they leave the rule of law?” he asked.

The former presidential aspirant was unambiguous about his governing philosophy. “The first thing I will do as president of Nigeria is to rule by the law. There has to be law and order,” he said.

Amaechi maintained that respect for the law would form the bedrock of any administration he leads.
