Senator Ted Cruz has accused President Bola Tinubu’s government of spending on U.S. lobbyists instead of addressing killings of Christians in Nigeria.
Cruz Slams Tinubu Over Lobbying Spend Amid Christian Killings
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has renewed his criticism of President Bola Tinubu, alleging that Nigerian officials chose public relations over substance in responding to concerns about Christian killings.
In a Wednesday statement, Cruz said Nigerian officials “waged a public relations campaign against critics” rather than addressing the issue directly. He linked this to his proposed Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act, which would sanction officials he says facilitated violence through blasphemy and Sharia law enforcement.
Presidential spokespersons Bayo Onanuga, Sunday Dare, and Daniel Bwala had not responded to requests for comment as of publication, according to Peoples Gazette.
