Oyo school abduction: 2-year-old child among 46 victims

A two-year-old toddler is among 46 persons — seven teachers and 39 students — abducted by terrorists from two schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, with 25 still missing according to police.

A two-year-old toddler, Christianah Akanbi, is among 46 persons kidnapped by terrorists from Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School and Community High School Ahoro-Esinele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The Oyo State Police Command spokesman, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed 25 victims remained missing, saying, “As of now, we have confirmation that seven students, 18 pupils and seven teachers are still missing.”

Ayanlade explained that operatives were exercising caution, adding, “The children and teachers are with them. Any exchange of fire must be done meticulously because we do not want to jeopardise or risk the lives of the captives.”

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria condemned the attack, including the beheading of teacher Michael Oyedokun, describing it as “a national disgrace of the highest order.”
