Nigerian U-20 footballer Daniel Daga has been sentenced to six months in prison by a Norwegian court for a non-consensual sexual act, though he denies wrongdoing and plans to appeal.
A Norwegian court has sentenced Daniel Daga, a Nigerian U-20 international and midfielder for Molde FK, to six months in prison after finding him guilty of committing a sexual act without consent. The Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court delivered the verdict Tuesday, also ordering the 19-year-old to pay $1,050 in legal costs.
Daga’s lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, rejected the ruling and said the player would appeal the decision. “He is very upset about the verdict. He believes he is innocent and that everything happened with consent,” she told TV 2. Molde FK confirmed the player remains suspended while the case continues in the legal system.
