The NDLEA has dismantled a major transnational drug syndicate, arresting a local baron, three Mexican specialists, and six others while seizing over 2.4 tons of methamphetamine worth 480 billion Naira from a hidden forest laboratory.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has completely dismantled a sophisticated, multi-million-dollar Nigerian-Mexican methamphetamine production syndicate. Elite operatives executed simultaneous strikes across Ogun and Lagos states, shutting down an industrial-scale clandestine laboratory hidden in the Abidagba forest of Ogun State.
The raid resulted in the arrest of the cartel’s kingpin, Anochili Innocent, at his luxury Lekki residence, alongside three Mexican technical experts and six Nigerian collaborators. Forensic teams recovered over 2.4 tons of toxic chemical materials and crystallized methamphetamine valued at $362,922,000, or 480 billion Naira.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) warned transnational cartels against utilizing rural Nigerian communities for South American cartel operations, stating: “Through a clinical, simultaneous operation executed by the elite operatives of our Special Operations Unit (SOU), we have successfully dismantled a sophisticated, transnational methamphetamine production syndicate run jointly by a Nigerian drug cartel and their Mexican counterparts.”
