The Corporate Affairs Commission has begun the process of deregistering 100,000 companies for failing to file annual returns, giving them 90 days to comply.
CAC Moves to Deregister 100,000 Companies Over Tax Returns
According to a notice posted on the CAC’s X handle, the move is pursuant to Sections 692(3) and (4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020. Affected companies can check the full list on the commission’s website, cac.gov.ng, and are required to file outstanding annual returns, including Persons with Significant Control/Beneficial Ownership information, within 90 days. Evidence of compliance should be sent to struckoffcompanies@cac.gov.ng. The CAC warned that companies failing to meet the deadline will be struck off the register without further notice, Tribune online reports.
