Atiku Demands Probe Into N6.44bn World Cup Fund
ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has demanded an independent probe into a N6.44 billion allocation for a “Special Presidential Support Group” for World Cup qualifiers, despite Nigeria’s elimination in November 2025, weeks before the budget was presented, Vanguard reports.
In a statement by aide Phrank Shaibu, Atiku questioned who inserted and approved the provision, calling it evidence of a compromised budgeting process. He linked the allocation to the wider PFIPC scandal, accusing the Tinubu administration of attempting to manipulate the narrative and shield officials while shifting blame to the opposition.
Atiku called on the National Assembly to set up an independent bipartisan panel to investigate the scandal fully.
