Nigeria’s former IGP Solomon Arase reported dead

Former Inspector General of Police and ex-PSC Chairman, Solomon Arase, has died in Abuja.

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Solomon Arase is dead.

The ex-police boss, who also served as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), reportedly died on Sunday at a private hospital in Abuja.

Arase, born June 21, 1956, in Owan West, Edo State, was Nigeria’s 18th Inspector General of Police. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in December 1981 after studying Political Science at Ahmadu Bello University and later earned a Law degree from the University of Benin.

He retired on June 21, 2016. Details of his death remain sketchy as the police are yet to release an official statement
