A funding standoff is brewing in the information ministry. Permanent Secretary Binyerem Ukaire has refused to approve payment files for NTA, FRCN, VON, NOA, and NBC, weeks after President Tinubu approved the funds, according to a report by The Cable.
Ukaire allegedly demanded agency heads present detailed briefings on their projects and spending plans before releasing the money ā a request they declined as inconsistent with civil service norms. Minister Mohammed Idris reportedly intervened, but Ukaire held her ground.
Agency heads say the delay has stalled projects. Ukaire told the newspaper the payment file was still being processed.
