A Kaduna father has taken his 27-year-old daughter to Sharia Court, asking judges to compel her to find a suitor and marry.
Father Drags Daughter to Court Over Marriage
Lawal Hamisu, father of 11, wants the Shari’a Court II in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, to step in where suitors haven’t: marrying off his 27-year-old daughter, Fatima Lawal, Daily Post reports.
Through his counsel, Hamisu argued Fatima has an HND and plenty of admirers but no serious proposal, accusing his ex-wife of turning her against him. Fatima told the court none of her admirers had proposed.
Judge Yakubu Abdullahi called it a sensitive family matter and adjourned the case to August 3 for ruling.
