A seven-month-old baby was burnt to death after a gas explosion destroyed a gas retail shop and an adjoining salon in Lagos’s Egan-Igando area.

Tragedy struck Dabiri Junction on Modina Road, Egan-Igando, when a gas explosion tore through a gas retail shop and a neighbouring hairdressing salon, SaharaReporters reports.

The seven-month-old victim, child of an apprentice at the salon, had reportedly wandered into the gas shop moments before it exploded. Both businesses were razed, and the infant was burnt beyond recognition, sources told the outlet.

Emergency responders had yet to confirm the cause of the blast or whether there were additional casualties as of filing.
