The House of Representatives withdrew its own constitutional amendment on state police and instead advanced an Executive-sponsored version.
Reps Withdraw Own State Police Bill, Back Executive Version
The House of Representatives on Tuesday withdrew its own proposed constitutional amendment seeking to establish state police, according to Daily Post.
This followed lawmakers’ decision to proceed with a separate State Police Bill forwarded by the Executive arm of government, the report said.
At Tuesday’s plenary, the House passed the Executive-sponsored bill through its first and second readings, Daily Post reported. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Constitutional Review for further work, per the outlet.
The move puts the House’s earlier proposal on hold as attention shifts to the Executive-backed version, Daily Post said. Lawmakers are expected to examine key provisions during the committee stage.
