Oyo Abduction: Eight Kidnappers Arrested, Others Killed — Onanuga
The Presidency is filling in the blanks on the Oyo rescue. Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga said eight kidnappers are now in DSS custody, while others were neutralised during the operation that freed pupils and teachers abducted in Orire Local Government Area, Punch reports.
He stressed no concessions were made — the terrorist kingpin the kidnappers demanded released remains under prosecution. The victims had spent weeks in captivity after gunmen stormed schools in Esiele and Yawota on May 15, killing one teacher and later beheading another in a video that sparked national outrage. Onanuga said security agencies would soon give a full account of the operation.
