FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has defended Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila against allegations linking him to the controversial PFIPC scandal, dismissing Atiku Abubakar’s call for opposition oversight of the ICPC probe as “rubbish.”
Wike Defends Gbajabiamila Over PFIPC Claims
Wike is standing firmly behind Gbajabiamila — and firing back at Atiku in the process.
According to a report by TheCable, the FCT minister used his Thursday media chat in Abuja to dismiss claims by Adeniyi Adeyemi that Gbajabiamila knew about the disputed PFIPC council, insisting he knows the chief of staff “very, very well” and calling the allegations targeted attempts to embarrass the presidency.
Wike also rejected Atiku’s demand for opposition parties to monitor the ICPC investigation, branding it “rubbish.” He questioned why Adeyemi — currently facing forgery and impersonation charges — has avoided public scrutiny despite making the claims.
Wike drew parallels to false allegations he’d faced himself as minister, which he said were debunked through security investigations.
