President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to expedite passage of a bill amending the National Senior Secondary Education Commission Act to strengthen governance of public secondary schools nationwide.
Tinubu Pushes Bill On Secondary Education
Tinubu wants secondary schools run better — and he’s turned to the Senate to make it happen.
According to a report by The Punch, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read a letter from Tinubu during Thursday’s plenary requesting passage of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The bill, cleared by the Federal Executive Council on April 30, aims to strengthen the commission’s administration and governance of public senior secondary education.
Tinubu appealed for accelerated consideration, tying the move to his broader push for stronger educational institutions and better learning outcomes.
Akpabio referred the bill to the Senate Committee on Rules and Business, directing it to report back within one week.
