Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu says he was tricked into meeting a man posing as director-general of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
KALU: I WAS DECEIVED INTO MEETING ‘PHANTOM’ COUNCIL DG
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has explained how he was deceived into meeting Adeniyi Adeyemi, self-styled Director-General of the alleged PFIPC, according to Daily Trust. Kalu said his office received a letter dated May 2, 2025, bearing the Presidency’s letterhead, an address at the Federal Secretariat Complex, and a government-style website, all of which appeared authentic.
Kalu said he directed staff to verify the office before approving any meeting, and they confirmed a physical presence at the stated address. However, when the delegation arrived, discussions veered away from the issues listed in their letter toward photo opportunities. Kalu made the disclosure during Wednesday’s plenary session supporting a motion for investigation into the council’s activities.
