A school bus returning from an excursion to Sipi Falls veered off the road and overturned in Uganda’s Kapchorwa district on Thursday, killing 20 pupils and one adult.
20 Pupils, Teacher Killed as School Bus Crashes in Kapchorwa
Twenty schoolchildren and a teacher are dead after a bus belonging to King David Junior School, Kampala, crashed in Kapchorwa district, eastern Uganda. The Uganda Police Force said the Isuzu bus, registration UA 108BQ, struck a roadside rock and overturned while returning from an educational trip to Sipi Falls, Peoples Gazette reports.
The driver’s identity has not yet been established. Local Government Minister Balaam Ateenyi Barugahara confirmed the toll on X, noting survivors were spread across four hospitals, including Mbale Regional Referral Hospital and Kapchorwa Hospital. Among the dead is the school’s founder, Tadeo Ssekade.
