You can’t make this up. Some of Ondo State’s most wanted criminals were hiding in plain sight — pretending to be mentally ill.
According to Vanguard News, Amotekun operatives cracked a network of kidnappers and drug peddlers, arresting 99 suspects in a statewide sweep. The twist? Some posed as lunatics to avoid suspicion while quietly gathering intelligence for kidnapping gangs.
Amotekun’s Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, revealed that plainclothes officers tracked the suspects to spots where they charged phones and coordinated operations.
Among the wins: a kidnapped couple rescued from a forest in under ten minutes — without paying a single kobo in ransom.
“Our forests are no longer safe havens for criminals,” Adeleye declared.
Ondo’s criminals, consider yourselves warned.
