Celtic secured their 14th domestic double and 43rd Scottish Cup title with a commanding 3-1 victory over Dunfermline at Hampden Park.
Celtic clinched the Scottish Cup and sealed a historic domestic double with a dominant 3-1 victory over Dunfermline at Hampden Park on Saturday, according to Punch.
Interim manager Martin O’Neill’s side took a commanding first-half lead through a 19th-minute lob from Daizen Maeda and a stunning 25-yard strike by Arne Engels. Kelechi Iheanacho put the result beyond doubt in the 72nd minute, weaving through three defenders to slot home Celtic’s third. Josh Cooper scored a late consolation goal for Dunfermline on the rebound, but the Hoops remained firmly in control.
The triumph marks a ninth consecutive win for Celtic and caps an incredible season for the 74-year-old O’Neill, who now boasts nine major honours across 26 years with the club. The victory mirrors Celtic’s dramatic 3-1 league-clinching win over Hearts just seven days prior.
