Habila’s Father Rejects Autopsy, Demands Daughter’s Body for Burial
According to Punch, Tanko Habila stated in a sworn affidavit dated July 13 that his family would not accept an autopsy and wanted his daughter’s body released for burial. He said the decision was voluntary and free of coercion, and that the family would not respond to further police or court invitations. Despite this, the Ebonyi State Police Command, through spokesperson Joshua Ukandu, said the investigation would continue, describing the family’s presence at a planned post-mortem as essential. Police said Habila died before reaching the David Umahi Federal Teaching Hospital in Uburu on June 27.
