Friend Recounts Nurse Mary Habila’s Final Hours Before Death

According to Punch, Anita Baaki, a physiotherapist and colleague, said in an affidavit filed before the Ebonyi State High Court that she last saw Habila alive on June 26, 2026, after Habila returned from getting her hair done. Baaki said Habila mentioned feeling tired and wanting to shower before bed. The next morning, when Habila didn’t emerge, Baaki grew concerned, and after unanswered calls and a locked door, staff forced the room open, finding Habila unconscious. She was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. Police investigations are ongoing, and lawyers have requested a forensic autopsy.
