FG declares Wednesday, Thursday public holidays for Eid-el-Kabir

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, according to The Punch.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani. He said the decision reflects respect for the religious and spiritual significance of the festival among Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslim faithful and urged citizens to use the period for prayers, reflection, and unity. He also called for continued support for peace, security, and national development.

The Federal Government encouraged Nigerians to embrace brotherhood and peaceful coexistence during the festive period as Muslims prepare for Eid celebrations nationwide.
