The Plateau police command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) has apprehended six individuals suspected of cattle rustling, criminal conspiracy, and illegal firearm possession. The arrests followed the unit’s inauguration in Jos. Commissioner of Police Bassey Ewah highlighted the VCRU’s establishment as a response to growing demands for swift and professional action against violent crimes, emphasizing its mandate to protect lives and property across the state. The unit will operate with a Civilian Oversight Board and officers have undergone specialized training.
