A Federal High Court in Abuja barred journalists from bail proceedings for six defendants accused of plotting a coup against President Tinubu, with the exclusion order attributed to the presiding judge.
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday excluded journalists from covering bail proceedings for six defendants charged with plotting a coup against President Bola Tinubu’s government. DSS operatives ordered reporters out of the courtroom before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik took her seat, with the exclusion order said to have originated from the judge herself.
The six defendants β including retired Major-General Mohammed Ibrahim Gana, retired Navy Captain Erasmus Victor, Police Inspector Ahmed Ibrahim, Presidential Villa electrician Zekeri Umoru, and Islamic clerics Bukar Goni and Abdulkadir Sani β were arraigned last Wednesday. The case has drawn significant public attention since their arraignment on allegations of an alleged failed coup attempt.
