Ferran Torres’ strike in the second half of extra time proved to be the decisive winner for La Roja. Torres reacted quickest to a knockdown from Nico Williams, smashing the ball high into the net to settle the final.
His teammate, Lamine Yamal, is now the favourite to take home the Ballon d’Or later this year.
According to Polymarket, as reported by Daily Post, the 19-year-old has a 50.8 per cent chance of winning the award this year.
England captain Harry Kane sits in second place with a 27.1 per cent probability, while Argentina’s Lionel Messi has been given a 7.5 per cent chance.
France’s Kylian Mbappe rounds out the top four contenders with a 3.8 per cent probability.
