Nigeria Physiotherapy Society disputes Umahi’s claim, says Habila wasn’t registered

The Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy says Mary Habila’s name does not appear in its database of registered physiotherapists, contradicting Minister David Umahi’s claim that she was a physiotherapist.

Physiotherapy Society Says Habila Not on Its Register, Contradicts Umahi

According to a statement issued by the NSP’s Public Relations Team on Thursday, cited by SaharaReporters, the society verified Habila’s credentials through regulatory channels and found no record of her registration. The NSP said the development highlights the need for public officials to verify professional claims before making public statements, adding that professional identity “is not a matter of assumption or public perception; it is a matter of verifiable fact.” The clarification follows Umahi’s earlier claim, made through his media aide, that Habila and another woman were physiotherapists on secondment from David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences. The NSP also extended condolences to Habila’s family.
