Onoh backs Umahi, tells NYCN to stop politicising Habila’s death

Former presidential spokesman Denge Josef Onoh has defended Minister David Umahi and urged the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria to withdraw its resignation ultimatum, insisting the death of Mary Habila be handled through due process, not politics.

Onoh Defends Umahi, Slams NYCN Over Habila Death Politics

According to Vanguard, Onoh, in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, described the NYCN’s seven-day ultimatum as politically motivated rather than driven by genuine concern for justice. He called for a transparent police investigation, forensic evidence collection, and an independent autopsy involving the family, noting Umahi has already backed such a probe. Onoh accused the NYCN of selective outrage, pointing to the group’s silence on other national tragedies, and warned that continued agitation could compromise evidence and witness testimony. He urged the group to withdraw its ultimatum and let the justice system run its course.
