Senate Blocks Fresh Bid To Probe ‘Fake Agency’ Scandal
The Senate on Wednesday rejected, for the second time, a bid by Kano South Senator Suleiman Abdulrahman Kawu to launch an independent probe into the PEAC/PFIPC “fake agency” controversy involving Director-General Adeniyi Adeyemi, Tribune Online reports.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio said the matter was sub judice since Adeyemi had already been charged to court, adding that President Tinubu had directed the ICPC to investigate within 30 days. Kawu insisted the National Assembly should conduct its own probe, citing the N1.3 billion budgetary provision for the agency, but the Senate stood its ground.
Adeyemi is currently facing charges after alleging a bribery demand by the Chief of Staff to the President.
